The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has modified the MPLAD Guidelines to permit construction of Railway Halt Station. The modification of the guideline has been approved by the Minister of State (I/C) for Statistics and Programme Implementation Shri S.K. Jena. According to the modified guidelines, funds from MPLAD Scheme if so nominated by MP can be used for construction of Railway Halt Station to facilitate the local community for easy access to railways and boarding/deboarding from the train. The implementation will be carried out as per the provisions of the Railways, subject to the provisions of the MPLADS Guidelines. According to the modified guidelines, if Railways are also contributing for such activities, the accounts of expenditure will be strictly maintained separately for both MPLADS and Railways and a strict check be maintained to avoid any duplication/duplicate accounting. A plaque (steel/metal) indicating the cost involved, contribution made from MPLADS/Railways, if any, commencement, completion and inauguration and the name of the MP sponsoring the work should be permanently erected.
