‘Rashtriya Vigyan Chalchitra Mela and Competition (RVCM) – 2014 Award Ceremony’

Vigyan Prasar, a National institute for science and technology communication under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in association with National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture, Govt of India organized the 4th Rashtriya Vigyan Chalchitra Mela (RVCM) and competition at Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore from 29 January to 01 February 2014. 

The National Science Film Festival (NSFF) generates enthusiasm amongst science film makers as well as universities and media houses involved in producing films on science, technology and development. 

The competition was to felicitate, recognize and encourage science film producers and production of S&T related films/videos. It attracted outstanding science and technology video/films produced in the country and set new bench marks for excellence. 

Golden Beaver Award consisting of cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, Silver Beaver Award consisting of cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and Bronze Beaver Award consisting of Rs. 30,000 will be awarded to the winning entries on 2nd February 2014 at 1030 hrs in the auditorium of Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum. In addition to the cash prizes, trophies and certificates will be awarded. 

The categories for the competition were as follows: 

1. ‘Popular Science Programme’ (more than 20 minutes) 

2. ‘Short film on science and technology’ (less than 20 minutes) 

3. ‘Animation/Graphics/Special effect in science and technology film or video’ 

4. ‘Science and Technology Film made by student/ (s) 

A special Jury Award with cash prize of Rs. 40,000, trophy and certificate will be another attraction for outstanding film on science and technology. 

Well known cine actor and the Chairman of National Jury Mr M Nasser from Indian Film Industry will grace the occasion along with the prominent academicians, scientists, science communicators from IISc, IIA, AIR, Doordarshan, NCSM and Vigyan Prasar to announce and award the prizes.
